I feature a unique art style made from gourds, longleaf pine needles, antlers, feathers, and other natural items. In addition to custom gourds, I also make beautiful, handmade pine needle baskets, many of which are combined with gourds. My husband, Mark, who had retired from wood working, is hand-turning beautiful wood and resin items, many showcasing beautiful burls. What a great conversation piece! This whimsical flamingo has received as much or more attention than anything I'uve made in quite awhile. He's made from a curly hjandle dipper gourd and has a gourd scrap for a beak. His feathers were paintstakingly painted and his tail feathers are quite charming. His legs and feet are made from heavy gauge wire and Kwikwood. This adorable piece will bring a smile to everyone who sees it. He's 14" tall and 10" wide.
