This large gourd has been carved in three different directions.  A beautiful tree has been carved out of the center and areas on both sides of the tree have been carved and coiled with South Carolina longleaf pine needles, dyed a beautiful color of brown.  The handle at the top of this piece is a piece of elk antler that has been chewed on extensively by squirrels.  They made a beautiful design in the antler.  The antler itself is held in place by the longleaf pine needles. What an eye cathing piece of art!
