I feature a unique art style made from gourds, longleaf pine needles, antlers, feathers, and other natural items. In addition to custom gourds, I also make beautiful, handmade pine needle baskets. As of January 2024, my husband, who had retired from wood working, is hand-turning beautiful wood platters and bowls. I add pine needle coiling to most of his work and it makes a stunning combination! Have a look at my gallery and contact me with any questions or special requests.
This gourd was lovingly created using guinea chicken feathers from a friend of the artist, as well as a shed antler from another friend. The gourd is colored with dark mahogany alcohol ink and the top is embellished with grass rope and a painted wooden feather. It's 8" wide without the antler, 9" with the antler, 6.5" tall and 23" in circumference. This is a beautiful piece that you can be proud to give or to display.
